VacAir supplies Rietschle 523446 and 523447 replacement carbon vanes for the Rietschle DFT 500 and VFT 500 dry-running rotary vane pumps. Unlike conventional single-piece carbon vanes, these pumps use a two-piece vane arrangement, with two different-length carbon sections fitted in each rotor slot.
The two components have separate OEM references and dimensions. The shorter vane, 523446, measures 222 × 73 × 8 mm, while the longer vane, 523447, measures 228 × 73 × 8 mm.
Both components are required for a complete replacement. The DFT 500 and VFT 500 each require four shorter vanes and four longer vanes, giving a total of eight individual carbon vane pieces per pump.
Vane A – Rietschle 523446: 222 × 73 × 8 mm – 4 required
Vane B – Rietschle 523447: 228 × 73 × 8 mm – 4 required
Complete replacement: 4 × A + 4 × B = 8 vane pieces
These are complementary components, not alternative part numbers. Although their widths and thicknesses are identical, the lengths differ by 6 mm. The correct combination must be used for the specified pump arrangement.
VacAir identifies these components individually as VA523446 and VA523447. Our technical team can assist with identification, replacement quantities and supply for either pump model.

The DFT 500 and VFT 500 use two carbon vane sections within each rotor slot. Although the two sections are similar in appearance, they have different lengths and must be identified separately.

VANE A – SHORTER SECTION
523446 Dimensions: 222 × 73 × 8 mm VacAir code: VA523446 Quantity required: 4 This is the shorter of the two carbon vane sections used in each rotor slot. |
VANE B – LONGER SECTION
523447 Dimensions: 228 × 73 × 8 mm VacAir code: VA523447 Quantity required: 4 This is the longer of the two carbon vane sections used in each rotor slot. |
4 × Rietschle 523446 – 222 × 73 × 8 mm
4 × Rietschle 523447 – 228 × 73 × 8 mm
Total: 8 individual vane pieces per pump.
We recommend replacing all vane sections together as part of a complete maintenance operation. The two references should not be substituted for one another.
Both vane components are required for the Rietschle DFT 500 and VFT 500 pumps. Each model uses four shorter and four longer vane sections.

The two-piece carbon vane arrangement in the DFT 500 and VFT 500 requires particular attention during servicing. Each rotor slot contains two different-length sections, so the correct combination must be identified before replacement. The shorter 523446 and longer 523447 components should be inspected for wear, chipping, cracking and damage. We recommend replacing all eight vane sections together to maintain consistent wear characteristics. When inspecting the pump, check: ✓ All four rotor slots and vane movement
✓ Both vane sections in each slot
✓ Rotor and shaft condition
✓ Internal running surfaces for scoring
✓ Bearings and excessive movement
✓ Inlet filtration and contamination
✓ Signs of overheating or abnormal wear
With two different vane lengths, it is important not to confuse the components during maintenance. Follow the manufacturer’s service instructions for their correct positioning, orientation and installation. If either vane section has fractured, investigate the cause before fitting new parts. Damage to the rotor, running surfaces or associated components may require additional repair work.

VacAir has supplied replacement vacuum pump vanes and spares since 1996, supporting industrial users, engineers, distributors and specialist repair companies throughout the UK and overseas.
The Rietschle 523446 and 523447 vane arrangement is unusual because each rotor slot requires two different-length components. Our combined master page explains this distinction and brings both references together without incorrectly presenting them as interchangeable alternatives.
Correct component identification is particularly important for the DFT 500 and VFT 500. Both pumps require four 222 mm vane sections and four 228 mm sections. Our technical team can help customers confirm the required quantities and dimensions.
VacAir’s support extends beyond vane supply. Our experienced engineers provide vacuum pump servicing, workshop repairs and fault investigation, including assistance where broken vanes or internal damage indicate that a pump requires more than routine maintenance.
Our Price Promise reflects our commitment to competitive replacement-vane pricing, supported by specialist product knowledge and practical engineering assistance.
523446 is the shorter vane section measuring 222 × 73 × 8 mm. 523447 is the longer section measuring 228 × 73 × 8 mm. Both are required for the DFT 500 and VFT 500.
No. They identify two different-length carbon vane sections used together in each rotor slot. They are not interchangeable alternatives.
The VFT 500 requires four 523446 vane sections and four 523447 vane sections, making eight individual pieces per pump.
The DFT 500 requires four shorter 523446 sections and four longer 523447 sections, giving eight individual vane pieces per pump.
Rietschle 523446 replacement carbon vanes measure 222 × 73 × 8 mm.
Rietschle 523447 replacement carbon vanes measure 228 × 73 × 8 mm.
VacAir recommends replacing all eight sections together as part of a complete vane change, rather than routinely replacing only selected worn sections.
Yes. VacAir supplies replacement carbon vanes and provides technical identification support, vacuum pump servicing, fault investigation and workshop repairs.
