ELMO RIETSCHLE VFT 500 REPLACEMENT CARBON VANES
VacAir supplies replacement carbon vanes for the Elmo Rietschle VFT 500 dry-running rotary vane vacuum pump. Unlike the smaller VFT models, the VFT 500 has four rotor slots, each containing two different carbon vanes. A complete replacement therefore requires 8 vanes in total.
The complete configuration comprises 4 × Vane A, Rietschle OEM 523446, and 4 × Vane B, Rietschle OEM 523447. The corresponding VacAir references are VA523446 and VA523447. Each rotor slot requires one of each vane type.

REPLACING ELMO RIETSCHLE VFT 500 CARBON VANES

The VFT 500 has four rotor slots, with two carbon vanes fitted in each slot. A complete vane change requires four Vane A components and four Vane B components, giving eight replacement vanes altogether. When removing the existing vanes, identify the Vane A (523446) and Vane B (523447) components and follow the correct manufacturer fitting arrangement. Both vane types are needed; they must not be treated as interchangeable. Before fitting replacements, inspect: ✓ All four rotor slots and vane movement
✓ Cylinder wall and internal running surfaces
✓ Rotor and bearing condition
✓ Inlet and exhaust filtration
✓ Carbon dust and broken vane fragments
✓ Evidence of overheating or uneven wear
Important: Each slot requires the correct combination of Vane A and Vane B. If any vane has fractured, remove all fragments and investigate the cause of failure before restarting the pump.
