DVT 3.80 VANE INSPECTION & FITTING PROCEDURE

1. Isolate and prepare the pump. Disconnect the electrical supply, prevent accidental starting and allow the DVT 3.80 to cool. Make connected equipment safe and follow the relevant Becker maintenance instructions before opening the pump.
2. Remove and inspect all seven vanes. Carefully withdraw the existing vanes and examine each for cracks, chipped edges, uneven wear or missing sections. Compare their remaining heights and check against the manufacturer’s specified wear limit. Investigate any vane that is substantially more worn or damaged than the others.
3. Inspect the rotor slots. Use a suitable inspection light to examine the accessible length of each slot, including the far ends. Look for accumulated dust, scoring, damaged edges or deposits that could restrict vane movement.
4. Remove contamination and fragments. Thoroughly clean the rotor slots, cylinder and accessible internal surfaces. If any existing vanes have fractured, locate and remove all broken pieces before proceeding. Use controlled compressed air only where permitted by Becker’s instructions, with suitable dust control, and avoid blowing debris further into the pump.
5. Check the replacement specification. Confirm WN 124-034 and dimensions of 170 × 39 × 4 mm. Test each new vane in its intended slot. It should slide smoothly without binding or excessive resistance. Never force a tight-fitting vane into position.
6. Fit the first vane correctly. Bring an accessible rotor slot into the upper fitting position and insert the first replacement vane according to Becker’s instructions. Observe the correct orientation: the higher edge is the leading edge and the chamfer follows behind. Check that the vane is seated correctly and moves freely.
7. Rotate and fit the remaining vanes. Carefully rotate the rotor by hand in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, checking the movement of the fitted vane. Continue fitting the remaining replacements until all seven vanes are installed correctly and move freely.
8. Complete the final inspection. Confirm the correct seven-vane quantity, unrestricted vane movement and removal of all broken fragments. Inspect the cylinder running surface, rotor and shaft, bearings, inlet filter and relief valve as appropriate. Investigate any internal damage or abnormal wear before reassembling and testing the pump.
